Kris Murrell Ancient City Classic First in Bodybuilding’s Return to North Florida!

North Florida’s bodybuilding season kicks off with this year with the 10th Anniversary of the Ancient City Classic Bodybuilding & Figure Championships to be held on July 28 at the Pedro Menendez High School Auditorium, in St. Augustine, Florida. The location is easily accessible from I95 and US1. The wildly popular nature of this regional event, which always sells out, makes it an easy decision to continue promoting the event for Gene Schlossberg and Mike Lynch. Schlossberg and Lynch own and operate the two St. Augustine World Gyms. A bodybuilding icon and inspiration is certainly an appropriate description of Schlossberg as he continues to work out and compete on-stage in his late seventies. “It gets back to that if you want to talk the talk you need to do a little bit of walking the walk also,” Schlossberg says. “It helps with promotions as you get to meet a lot of these competitors around the state and that definitely helps attract some interest in the Ancient City and also the All South (November show).”

This years’ guest posers include Lee Banks and Kris Murrell two high ranking NPC national competitors living in North Florida. Banks, of Jacksonville placed highly at NPC Nationals the last two years and other national level competitions such as the NPC USA Championships. Kris Murrell, from Amelia Island who lives in Jacksonville was the winner of the heavyweight division of the Jr. Nationals in 2006.
