Let me give a special thank you to Ed and Betty Pariso's hospitality in Arlington, Texas this last weekend during the S.W. USA Sports and Fitness Expo held at the Arlington Convention Center. As always they put on a terrific show and handle every detail of these big events planning and production with a hand picked team. I'm pleased with the opportunity to increasingly be a part of that team considering their commitment to the athletes, the NPC and IFBB federations and the fans.
My hats are off to a the Pariso's as a stellar example of promoters doing things right.

Popular fitness model Monique Minton took the overall bikini prize with her prize winning good looks.
IFBB Pro Jen Cook recieves an award of appreciation from Ed & Betty Pariso for her stellar work as a National judge for the NPC. Jen is an accomplished social service provider and is an accomplished and in-demand fitness model in the industry.
They made it look easy in Arlington, Texas with strength moves and athleticism. Expect even bigger things as the Dallas, Europa coming up in August will consist of nearly 200 NPC competitors hot body and hot mom contests and all the expo sports we have come to expect from Ed & Betty's Europa expos.
Looking forward to seeing some Texas Muscle June 27th in Arlington Texas at the Southwest USA Sports & Fitness Expo NPC competion. Ed & Betty Pariso always put on a gret show and expo. This one is bound to be another winner from their winning team.
BTW, in Europa expo news be on the lookout for announcements regarding another one being added possibly in the Chicago area in early 2010. Plans for the show in the Hartford location where Europa is home based are already set. A Chi-town addition would be yet another welcome showcase for the athletes and industry.
News and interest in the Ft. Lauderdale Cup IFBB & NPC show is heating up. This show is a girls only show slated for Saturday, October 10th in Ft. Lauderdale at the Parker Playhouse very near to the War Memorial where the Southern States is traditional held.

Aixa Traynor and Amanda Procida competed in bikini at the Tampa Bay Classic and lit up the stage with their beauty and poised performances. Aixa a former bodybuilder from over a decade ago is ready to rejoin the ranks of NPC starlets after placing third in her short class comeback. Amanda is on the fast track taking top honors in the medium class and the overall in her first show of many more to come.

Musclepapa got interviews with Jaime Baird & Jennifer Marchetta prior to their trips to the Jr. Nationals and numerous other athletes, officials and promoters. Deke Warner is a really nice guy that everyone tends to like. Our mutual friend Amy DeGiovine even learns a few things about her old friend along with getting the low down on all the pertinent info for the Mid-Florida to be held in Orlando in two weeks and the Florida State in August.
Opps! I missed the Lakeland Classic on Fri-Saturday June 5-6, but did manage to complete Dexter Jackson's Training Partner John Mier's wedding video. Editing takes probably five times as long as an actual shoot and John and Jana's was no exception. Beautiful wedding :o)
Congratulations to Marijan Lipsinic for his Overall win at the 2009 Gulf Coast Championships. We had a fun shoot on Tuesday, June 2 in Ft. Lauderdale. Here is a minute of it.
Marijan managed to take home one of the top spots at the Jr USAs in Charleston with his terrific conditioning and muscle maturity. Now he is in route to a shoot for MuscleTech in Canada then back to Florida where we will be doing a video/photoshoot early next week in Ft. Lauderdale. One of the nicest guys you will meet.

Nicole Ball Announces On Sports After Dark Her Return To Defend Her Title At The 2009 IFBB Tampa Pro!
In early May 2009 IFBB Professional Bodybuilder Nicole Ball decided to return to defend her title at the IFBB Tampa Pro. Her decision was not final until after her trainer Dave Palumbo agreed to support her in this endeavor.
Sports After Dark hosts Eryn Strickland and Allison Moyer primed Nicole Ball with questions that brought out poignant responses from an emotional champion. Nicole grew up in a town of a mere 47 residents and felt she reached the big city after moving to one with 500 residents.
Nicole shared how she grew up in a very sheltered and religious family wherein she was escorted everywhere by her three brothers. Nicole spread her wings and left the family nest at eighteen years of age, but was a vulnerable sort who quickly became involved with a more worldly man that spelled trouble for her. Her new boyfriend wanted, no required, that Nicole always look her best if they were to be seen together, which led to his pressuring her into a bulimic lifestyle that stuck with her even after she parted ways with the man that would later become a brother-in-law.
Nicole credits her love of her family more so than concern for herself that saved her after a bout with death and hospitalization due to bulimia. Although Nicole did not fear the harm to herself caused by the bulimia she no longer could stomach the hurt she was causing those that meant the most and who were closest to her. Bodybuilding has given Nicole a positive focus that has been a healthy change from those difficult times.
As for her 2009 competitive season Nicole plans to come in about three pounds lighter and tighter. In 2008 Nicole competed in Tampa at 127 lbs. and then at 132 lbs. at the Olympia where she was retaining 6-7lbs excess water due to a condition she has had since a child. She noted she will make the necessary adjustments in 2009 for the Tampa Pro, Europa, & Olympia! With the help of Palumbo’s diet Nicole stays at about 145 lbs in the off season.
Alli inquired as to the origins of Nicole’s exotic look that might have something to do with this Canadian’s Italian and English heritage. Eryn and Alli aren’t shy in their inquiries that resulted in a gem with Nicole sharing her recent Best Onstage Orgasm Award amongst a slew of male strippers. All in good fun, lol.
A further heart-wrenching story was revealed as Alli asked Nicole what the most memorable experience she has had in her career thus far. Nicole shared how her mother’s sister had moved to Canada eleven years ago, wherein Nicole’s father encouraged his wife and sister-in-law to take a vacation together. The ladies took off to Mexico that was ended terribly with the gang rape of Nicole’s mother that tore the family apart. “I was harsh with my mother for a while because she left me in this situation with my dad.” Then while training and competing with her boyfriend and dad by her side the three of them found themselves at the Olympia and upon stopping by her dad’s room, “I asked him if he wanted to go for coffee,” Nicole said. “Sure hun I’d love to,” her father said. “As I was about to go he said “oh just wait I’ve got to grab something,” Nicole said. “And my mom came out of the bathroom. That was the first time in nine years that they’d seen each other and talked. They arranged to meet there for me to be there with me for the Olympia experience. So my first Olympia was absolutely phenomenal. It gave me the most memories, but what I got to share it brought my family back together. And it was the sport that did it.”

Harper shares Pulcinella's interest in capturing special moments that reveal the most precious moments in athletes time in the competitive circuit and MPJ lends some thoughts of his own while producing the program for Siouxcountry Radio.

Judging from Shelly's fun loving antics in this clip Musclepapa shot prior to one of her NPC bikini contests in Florida it is obvious these ladies are going to bring some attention to the sport!
Diana had her sites set on the New York Pro immediately after winning the 2008 NPC Nationals in Atlanta. She is a dedicated athlete with a great overall package with the personality to match. Diana hasn't had an easy road in life. During the last few years while placing in the top three at national level bodybuilding shows this mother of two lovely children was also struggling to survive domestic violence that resulted in broken bones and a broken marriage this year. Thus, came the dropping of the Tinnelle name and reverting to her adopting Father's name of Stanback. Having come to the United States from humble beginnings in the Philippines at eleven years old Diana is not new to adversity and she isn't a complainer, but an accomplished mother, athlete, trainer, and spokesmodel with a contagiously cheerful and optimistic outlook on life. Stanback wants to make her presence felt on stage in New York and will be touring the area over the following week with her sponsor Gaspari Nutrition. We are in the process of a redesign of National Level Bodybuilding Competitor and Trainer Marijan Lipsinic. This terrific South Florida based European bred athlete is experiencing the growing pains and riches that his hard work provide as his client base has grown tremendously in recent months with the support of his wife Sandra who has come up with the new site design while working on her certification paperwork to begin practicing medicine, which was her gift before moving to the U.S. after marrying Marijan. Everything is looking up for the Lipsinic's and the site will be even better in the weeks to come leading up to Marijan stepping on stage at the Jr. USAs.
My friends and clients John and Jana Mier had a lovely wedding on May 9 that I had the pleasure of capturing in video. Here are a few pictures I snapped during the event that included not surprizingly many a well known figure from the physique sports.

Thousands of people attended and the IFBB & NPC competitions were stacked with great physiques and good looks. Tres Bennett Joins Marie Ann Newman Prior to Jr. USAs & After Shannon's 1st Place New York Pro Fitness Win
"Mr. Dixie" Tres Bennett & host Marie Ann Newman competed together and won their first shows together, a few moons ago (we won’t say when).
Tres is promoter of the May 23 Jr. USAs in Charleston, South Carolina and started hosting the show in 2003. After its success in 2003 after a year being promoted by another promoter Jim Manion approached Tre about promoting again, which he has done ever since. There were two hundred and twelve competitors competing in the Jr. USAs in 2008.
As for his expectations regarding the bikini division where the first IFBB Pros Bikini competitors will be derived Tres had this to say, "I think everyone has their hands in the air and are saying I don’t have a clue." One hundred to one hundred and fifty competitors are possible according to Bennett. Tune in for more with Marie Ann Newman and Tres Bennett.
A week out from the Europa in Orlando I've managed to work with some of the ladies including IFBB Pros Nicole Duncan and Tina Durkin on Monday to put together an impressive line up of radio shows available at www.Siouxcountryradio.com.

It was quite a weekend in Jacksonville, Florida the location of the Jax Physique Bodybuilding Fitness Figure & Bikini Show put on by Mr. Olympia Dexter Jackson and John Mier of PremierPhysiques.net. Gale Elie, Dexter’s girlfriend deserves a lot of credit along with all the sponsors and of course the athletes and NPC judging staff. Dozens of local competitors, many first timers showed up to flex and sashay about the stage in hopes of awards and rewards. The athletes did there thing in the presence of a spirited audience and numerous IFBB pros. Marcus Haley, Don Long, and Melody Clere were a few of the professionals along with many national level competitors that made their appearance felt at Mr. Olympia’s second promotion of the year. Dexter and John are commited to reviving this historic show that dropped from the schedule some years ago. The reason for their interest? The Jax Physique was the first show that both of these gentlemen competed in. You never know what local show might give rise to another Mr. Olympia.
We have lots of work to do with Mari Redondo at her site www.BodiesByMari.com with all the shows they are putting on and personal training out of her studio, Sergio Pacheco's Physique World Gym, and George Princes' affairs of the body. These titans of South Florida NPC promotions are partnering up this year on the Gold Coast as well with Peter Rhoden. Lots more to come!

Early February marked the completion of the Bombshell Fitness Academy Leg Training Videos, which was delivered to IFBB Pro Shannon Dey as she embarked on a series of weekend camps around the state of Florida and beyond. The New Sheriff In Town: Shannon Dey
There is a new sheriff in town. While that is an expression associated with the masculine attributes of power and authority in a bygone era the feminine version in the physique sports training biz surely must be Shannon Dey(www.bombshellfitness.com). For this writer a couple of the nationally most recognized names in training women for figure competitions have up until now been Kim Oddo (http://www.bodybyo.com/) and Mike Davies (www.mikedaviesfitness.com). Yet, remember that "other" expression borne of the Computer/Information Age, “the only thing that is constant is change.”Enter Shannon Dey!
The always energetic and driven Dey after becoming an IFBB Pro Fitness competitor and retiring from her cheerleading career with the Kansas City Chiefs Dey took the sports industry realm by storm. She owns and operates a successful chain of fitness facilities in Florida where she began offering camps for athletes who looked up to Shannon as not only a successful lady on stage, but off. Shannon took on responsibilities within the state NPC organization officially serving as the chair of fitness and figure. In that role Shannon not only represents the NPC at meetings and provides seminars, but does complimentary guest posing routines at shows around the state of Florida, a state with more NPC shows per year than any other.
Along with her husband Rob Rosseti they purchased the publication rights for Southern Muscle Plus a mainstay in the South for NPC contest coverage. They expanded its reach into the Northeast after going to a full color format and other changes that appeal to consumers and advertisers alike.
Meanwhile Shannons’ training camps for fitness and figure competitors grew in popularity. In 2008 after making sweeps at various shows in the Southeast the Bombshell team as they are known began to increasingly get noticed on the national stage. In the Feb. 2009 issue of Iron Man Magazine, Ruth Silverman referred to them as the Bombshell Brigade writing, “Meet the first major force out of Florida in a long time,…”
Fast forward to Shannons’ schedule of camps at www.bombshellfitness.com/camps.html and you will find that the schedule not only is weekly around the Four Corners of Florida (noteworthy stat: 25% of all figure competitors at the 2008 Nationals lived in Florida), but extend nationally.
While there are many noteworthy trainers Shannon Dey is without a doubt one to watch considering her potential to positively influence the greatest number of competitors nationally for years to come.
Don't believe me though. Watch and see for yourself as all the world is her stage and at least for camps the United States for now.

Siouxcountry Radio featuring two separate shows: Female Bodybuilding Show and Fitness, Figure and Female Sports Show. Not only is there no radio show currently about female bodybuilding, but these shows are unique as they are co-hosted by a long list of competitors both professional and amatuer sharing with each other and us their stories and the scoop on their experience in the sport.

Erin Stern recieved her invite to the Arnold Classic, which will be her first IFBB Pro showing after winning the Overall Figure title at NPC Nationals in Atlanta.
